I guess some people call January first the new year. The Chinese started their New Year out on February 14th this year. As a kayaker I call the new year when the first river runs. This last year was an awesome year! Today I started my New Year off differently from all the others. I didn't paddle with my usual river buds as I was out of town. I also paddled it today without having a Summit afterward. But one thing remains the same. It started on the Vermillion River. Dan and I ran it today and it was the highest I have ever ran it! It was fast and stopming for the Verm! So much fun! So here's Happy New Years wishes to all my paddling buds! Game on! It's going to be a great year!
