Two Weeks away from the Vermillion

Paul and I went to the Verm for the first time in two weeks. I was away due to a pinched nerve in my neck and left shoulder. Not due to paddling. I'm happy to say it's almost healed and paddling yesterday didn't bother me in the least. Alot has changed on the Verm in two weeks. The water has gotten warmer and slower. The features are taking on that sluggish, weird, spring time flow like it did for a few brief weeks last year. Hopefully it won't last long. Donut wasn't very retentive at all yesterday. I actually miss my winter time paddling. A winter 42cfs beats this 77cfs anytime for fun. But true to the Vermillion the scenery was beautiful. Last week I took some photos of these white bleeding hearts. The RailRoad Hole beaver had a few choice words for me when I paddled by.

Easter Weekend Paddling/Hiking

Brian and I opted to paddle quiet water this weekend since both of us were wounded. We spent alot of time hiking and just had a great weekend. The location of the quiet water will have to be kept secret as Park Rangers frown on bypassing locked gates to get to rivers. Yes we were busted...but not until after a great paddle. Who knew?

Sunny Vermillion

Paddled the Verm today...first with Spot and a second run with Dennis. The level was 100cfs and play was fun today. I did practice my rolls in current for the first time. Didn't miss a one today...now how did I miss that one last week??? Oh yeah 200+cfs more water ;-)
